grapefruit gin spritz

We think you are going to love this cocktail. It’s simple, fresh, and a great way to brighten up a dreary winter day. The best part is that citrus is in season right now. We are also really feeling the color of these drinks!

ingredients

DSC_0078.jpeg
  • 1 oz. fresh grapefruit juice (about 1/2 a small grapefruit)

  • 1.5 oz. gin

  • ½ oz. simple syrup

  • 1 oz. sparkling wine*

  • optional splash of grapefruit soda*

  • grapefruit slice for garnish

Mix the first 3 ingredients together in a glass or cocktail shaker. Add to a glass. Add some ice. Pour the mixture into the glass. Then add sparkling wine to fill the rest of the glass. Top it all off with a splash of grapefruit soda.

*We used sparkling rosé for a more intense pink color, but sparkling white wine is a little easier to find and would be great as well! Be sure to taste the wine before mixing the cocktail. If the wine is super sweet, you could add less simple syrup. If the wine is dry, you could add more simple syrup to taste.

* For the grapefruit soda, we recommend a more flavorful soda like Waterloo or Spindrift. We love La Croix, but it would not add enough flavor.

Variations

If you want a cocktail that is a little less boozy (we can’t relate to this sentiment, but just in case), you can make this into a Grapefruit Collins. Just omit the sparkling wine and add more grapefruit soda.
